Patrick Swayze

...was, an actor, a performer who seemed to give it his all no matter what the part, from scrappy action flicks like Next of Kin and Black Dog to some equally-light romances in Dirty Dancing and Ghost. He showed his versatility and maybe was at his best in stuff like To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar and Donnie Darko, but what I'll remember him for is his earliest roles, where he demonstrated that uncannily-perfect sense of brotherly love and family in The Outsiders and Red Dawn, not to mention Point Break. There was no one like him in that respect. The brother we always wanted.
